MMC helps repair water system at school

The initiative focused on repairing the leaking taps and pipes and ensured the school’s plumbing systems were up to date ahead of the 2025 academic year.

MMC for Water and Sanitation Thembi Msane recently joined a team of city technicians to address the water leaks at Ingqayizivele Secondary School in Thembisa.

The initiative focused on repairing the leaking taps and pipes and ensured the school’s plumbing systems were up to date ahead of the 2025 academic year.

The work also included replacing toilet cisterns to improve facilities for learners and staff.

“The whole idea is to ensure that when schools, the children are not derailed by issues that could be easily addressed,” said Msane during her visit.

“We care about the education and future of our children, which is why we are committed to playing a meaningful role in ensuring the culture of teaching and learning runs smoothly in the region.”

Msane plans to visit other schools across the city to address water-related challenges, including leaks and water pressure.

She urged the community to use water sparingly and report leaks promptly to help conserve the vital resource.

“The government will do its best to provide the infrastructure needed to improve service delivery, but we need to work together with communities to realise this vision,” she emphasised.
