Rand Water urges residents to ‘pay the basics first’ to keep water flowing

Rand Water is calling on households to prioritise settling their municipal accounts this festive season to support a reliable and sustainable water supply across communities.

Rand Water has reminded residents to ensure that essential expenses, including municipal payments, remain a priority during the festive season.
The water utility said paying municipal bills on time is crucial for maintaining a stable and sustainable water supply for households and communities across its supply network.

According to Rand Water, festive spending often leads to families delaying essential bills, which affects municipalities’ ability to pay for bulk water. This, in turn, impacts the reliability of water services.

The organisation emphasised that settling municipal accounts is a direct way for households to support the water system.

“Your festive budget should always start with the essentials. By settling your municipal account, you support reliable, sustainable services for your household and your community,” Rand Water’s statement reads.

Residents are encouraged to “start the season right” by ensuring their accounts are up to date, helping municipalities meet their financial obligations.

Rand Water added that paying municipalities on time enables them to, in turn, pay the utility — ensuring water continues to flow to all consumers.
