Ekurhuleni council welcomes two new councillors

Councillors Noliqwa Semahla (EFF) and Mzomuhle Shabalala (ANC) officially join the City of Ekurhuleni Council, taking their oaths to strengthen local governance and service delivery.

Two new councillors were sworn in at the City of Ekurhuleni Council on Wednesday, January 14, in a ceremony held at the New Council Chambers in Germiston.

Senior Magistrate Dawray Mumtaz administered the oath of office, during which the councillors affirmed their faithfulness to the Republic, the Constitution, and the Council.

Councillor Noliqwa Clementine Semahla of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) takes over from Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, who has since joined the Gauteng Provincial Legislature.

Councillor Mzomuhle Lucas Shabalala of the African National Congress (ANC) joins the Council following his victory in the Ward 109 by-election.

Both councillors are now fully authorised to participate in official council business and decision-making processes, contributing to governance and service delivery in the metro.

The City of Ekurhuleni welcomed the new members, highlighting their role in strengthening local democracy and ensuring that the council reflects the will of the residents.
