Smiles all around at charity luncheon
Charity organisations teamed up to spread love to an orphanage.
Three Thembisa charity organisations brought smiles and fun to their second annual Christmas lunch held at Tawana Community NPO, Glen Marais, Kempton Park.

Tawana is an orphanage founded by Sylvia Mofokeng and her husband. They saw the need to open a community centre for children and orphans.
Formerly based in Phomolong, Thembisa, the centre caters for 24 children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As the festive season approached, Germiston City News journalist Obedience Mkhabela’s foundation, the Mkhabela Obedience Foundation (MOF), the Dipalesa Foundation, and The Future Initiative partnered up as they did in December 2021 to bring gifts, good times, food parcels, and lunch to the children.

“The children enjoyed a day on the jumping castle and were later surprised with party packs filled with snacks, sweets, and balloons, all sponsored by Team Fabulous, an events management company,” said the chairperson of the Dipalesa Foundation, Palesa Mailula.
“As the day came to an end, the founder was presented with a certificate of appreciation signed by all parties involved,” said Mailula.
Tawana’s Mbuso Kwinda commended the efforts of the charity organisations, adding that the lunch made the children feel included and loved.

The MOF secretary, Khongelani Mbatha, closed the day with a prayer and thanked the centre for again opening its doors.
“As the year begins, we will be shifting our focus to our back-to-school programmes and assisting learners with toiletries and sanitary packs,” explained Mbatha.
