Fifty students received brand-new pairs of school shoes for the upcoming academic year.
On January 10 at Bola Mahlo Home and Day Care, Thabile Trade 1062 founder Kenny Mametsa carried out his ‘walk them to school’ campaign by donating school shoes to underprivileged students of Thembisa.
Mametsa stated this was a part of the back-to-school campaign to assist those in need as he saw fit.
“Due to the high expense of school supplies, several parents and caregivers are unable to purchase new uniforms and stationery every year. Children may therefore start the school year without enough material, which frequently forces teachers to cover the gap.
“A child can feel it when they arrive at school without the necessary materials. Their classmates and friends also notice it. Because of this, they may occasionally become a target of verbal abuse and bullying from their peers. Despite being improper, that activity still occurs.
“A child’s life is built on a foundation of high-quality education. It is what propels a student to advance in knowledge and intelligence and it necessitates the proper equipment.
Mametsa requested his community to unite in helping those in need.
“Even though these children may not be our biological offspring, we must work as a society to ensure that they receive education and achieve success to end the cycle of poverty. After all, it takes a village to raise a child,” said Mametsa.
