Thembisa boy lands in hospital after getting shot

An eight-year-old boy was shot and wounded by an unidentified gunman travelling in a red Volkswagen Polo in the Umthambeka section of Thembisa.

According to the father, Xolani Sikota, the boy, accompanied by his 10-year-old brother and 13-year-old female niece, had been returning from a nearby spaza shop when the incident unfolded.

He said without warning, shots were fired at the children, with one bullet finding its mark and striking the eight-year-old victim.

Thankfully, his brother and niece escaped unharmed.

The father of the eight-year-old victim shared the horrifying details of the incident.

He revealed that the gunman fired seven shots, with one bullet tragically finding its target.

The father expressed his gratitude that his other two children escaped unharmed, but his heartache and concern for his wounded son were palpable.

“We have opened a case of attempted murder at the Tembisa South Police Station and authorities are actively investigating the incident. The motive behind the attack remains unknown.

“Efforts are underway to apprehend the responsible individual,” said Xolani.
