Man with an invalid travel permit arrested in Thembisa

The detained suspect is expected to appear at the relevant magistrate's court soon.

EMPD Thembisa precinct officers arrested a 29-year-old man for overstaying his welcome in South Africa on October 27.

While enforcing traffic laws and crime prevention in the Tsenolong Section, EMPD officers stopped a white Mitsubishi sedan with one occupant.

A valid driver’s license was requested but instead, a stamped passport, indicating that he is permitted to be in South Africa until August 29, was produced and according to Section (1) (A) of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002), he is not supposed to be in the country, since his visiting days, expired.
