Golf day fundraiser held at Serengeti Golf Estate

Riverfields Precinct in partnership with LoveStruck hosted a golf day aimed at creating a positive impact in the community. It provides support for children with disabilities and educational upliftment in unprivileged areas.

Riverfields Precinct in partnership with LoveStruck Philanthropy held the Rolling Together 2023 Golf Day on November 2 at the Serengeti Golf Estate.

This exclusive event was aimed at creating a positive impact in the community by supporting children with disabilities and educational upliftment in lesser privileged areas.

This is done through the dedicated efforts of LoveStruck, Lifting Dreams, and Tomorrow’s Leaders in Training (TLT).

The golf day offered various sponsorship packages to suit different preferences.

Corporate participants and donors involved in the event received section 18A tax certificates for their contributions.

Senior PR account executive at Rainmaker Marketing, Mbali Mpofu, spoke to the Kempton Express about what prompted the idea for this event.

“The golf day is an annual event, that LoveStruck has been running for some years.

“Being situated in the Kempton Park and Riverfields area, LoveStruck partnered with the newly found Riverfields Foundation this year as both share a passion and mission to create upliftment in South Africa as a whole, but also specifically in the geographical area both organisations operate in.

“It is an opportunity to bring people from near and far together, create awareness, and raise funds for worthy causes,” she said

Local organisations that are doing good work and are chosen as beneficiaries are provided what is needed to help people.

Heine Bedehorst and Lara Erasmus attended the event.

“They are given funding, material aid or volunteers. All donations go towards communities, people experiencing difficult circumstances, investing in other charities, growing local businesses and helping entrepreneurs to support our structure.”

The Wheelchair Project, also a long-term beneficiary and partner to LoveStruck, was chosen this year as there was a tangible need for specialist wheelchairs for the children.

Though funds raised from the golf day focused on the wheelchair project, awareness was also raised for Lifting Dreams NPC and Training the Leaders of Tomorrow, both long-term partners and beneficiaries of LoveStruck.

“We are still crossing the t’s and dotting the I’s, but wheelchairs to the value of R264 923 have already been purchased with further donations of R194 000 pledged. Excellent awareness was raised for our educational partners. And the golfers had a blast.”

Mpofu said that there would be another golf day and she expressed her gratitude to all the attendees.

“Thank you so much to everyone who attended the event. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support.

“Your generosity will make a lasting change to the beneficiaries of the cause. We hope to see you again next year,’’ said Lardus Erasmus of Riverfields Foundation.
