Water police recover bodies after baptism
Divers recovered the two bodies of men who drowned during a baptism in Roodepoort.
Divers from the SAPS’ Johannesburg Water Policing and Diving Services were deployed to Roodekrans, Roodepoort, where a baptism ceremony went wrong, and two people allegedly drowned on the afternoon of February 13.
The scene was at an adventure park with a waterfall in a river system leading to the Crocodile River.
Witnesses reported that the pastor tried to help a man who lost his footing during the baptism ceremony.

Both men drowned and were visible in the clear water.
Divers recovered their bodies from a depth of about 2.5m.
An inquest docket is under investigation.
After the river swept away a pastor on Sunday in Meyerton, our communities are again warned about the dangers involved in these practices.
