Thembisa woman donates 50 pairs of school shoes to learners
The aim is not only to donate school shoes but to help the learners throughout their schooling careers.
Thembisa resident Lerato Mashala could not watch less fortunate children struggle with school supplies while she could assist.
Music and modelling lover Mashala started her own foundation, Gift Tsa Lerato Foundation, in 2022 to help local children with school supplies.
She decided to go independent in 2023 when she parted ways with her former partners because of the different visions they had for the foundation.

The aim is not only to donate school shoes but to help with learning and grooming these children.

“We help children to discover more of their ability, to score great in life. We also help them with activities, communication, behaviour and directional choices.
“We involve the community in speaking of their needs. We do it for the love of humanity,” she said.
Gift Tsa Lerato Foundation gathered the residents of Tswelopele Ext 8, Thembisa, recently to hand school shoes out to the children.
The foundation donated 50 pairs of shoes to the children of Tswelopele.

Mzamani Michael Bilankulu, the father of one of the children who received school shoes, said the donation would help his family because he is unemployed.
He said times are tough for him, but his daughter benefited from the foundation’s donation and he appreciates their help.

“I would like to see Gift Tsa Lerato Foundation grow to reach its goals. I believe that all this will benefit society and the community.

“I also wish Lerato, the foundation’s founder, the best. Hard work always pays off. She should be positive and never give up,” he added.
Residents who wish to find out more about Gift Tsa Lerato can find the organisation on Facebook.
Mashala said currently her family and friends are helping with the foundation.
“It’s not a one-man job, it needs unity and support.”

Dineo Moletsane joined Gift Tsa Lerato Foundation in October last year with hopes of growing the foundation’s media presence.

“I focus on uplifting Lerato so that she has more of a platform for speech and presence. Lerato inspired me to cherish so much of what a dreamer thinks about. The connection has been amazing,” she said.
Lerato hopes to grow Gift Tsa Lerato to be able to help more children in Thembisa.
“We hope to live up to our motto; ‘Reaching beyond the horizon’, to elevate and prosper together with the community,” she said.
