Kempton Park SAPS conduct school safety programme

During the search dagga, cigarettes and a knife were found among the possessions of learners.

Kempton Park SAPS Vispol head Colonel Obed Mashalane and other stakeholders visited Sir Pierre Van Ryneveld High School on April 3, to conduct a school search.

According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, the school was identified as one of the problematic schools in Kempton Park, where patrollers are deployed daily to ensure the safety of both learners and educators.

Cigarettes and a knife were found in possession of some learners.

“The search aimed to ensure that learners come to school for learning not to be involved in anything that is against the law. Those that are found in conflict with the law will be dealt with,” said Mashalane.

“The school management was informed of what was found and parents of these learners will be informed of such.”

Mashalane said that the searches will be conducted regularly until schools become safer places for learners and educators.
