Thembisa authors to release second book

Authors Fana Malema and Koena Phaho will release a second book before year-end.

Thembisan residents Fana Malema and Koena Phaho will release their second book, A Journey Filled With Life Lessons.

It comes after their first book, Being, was a success.

The first book was aimed primarily at young adults who try their best to improve their lives by making the right choices.

The book strongly emphasises the lives of leaders inspired by their backgrounds and how these backgrounds affect daily decisions.

The theme of We are on a razor’s edge; we can’t waste time drives the book and explains how the youth find themselves in difficult situations where they cannot differentiate between good and bad. They find themselves on paths that could lead them to success or failure.

The ending dwells on the dangers of following the wrong company, which it labels as the “reality GPS of this generation”.

Co-author Malema emphasises the GPS and its roles in the lives of the youth.

“GPS will take you straight to Cape Town, but you can still get lost during the journey. This means people who follow that GPS can still get lost. So, we need to select wisely before we choose our journey.

“A choice is a process of selection. Before you choose, you must select.

“I’m impressed with people because they do everything without hesitance, but we are still disappointed with those who pull others back with negative things and misleading behaviour.”

“On the cover, we decided to design it as a razor’s step ladder to show how difficult it is for a being to be successful.

Before you start climbing that ladder, you need to double-check the ground where you will put your ladder because it will be painful for a human to fall from that ladder when you are only left with one step ahead to success if the step ladder starts to shake while trying to climb from one ladder to another,” said Malema.

The writers said they are pleased with their first instalment, which gave them the courage to continue writing and spread knowledge through creative writing.

Readers can now look forward to a second book by the duo, which should be released before year-end.
