Partnership brings donations of school uniforms to local learners in need

The organisations teamed up to donate uniforms to 150 learners in Thembisa.

ZS Uniforms partnered with Sandvik SA to donate school uniforms to learners in need as part of the second instalment of the Fudumala School Jersey Drive.

Through the initiative, the two companies united to donate 150 school jerseys to Mehlareng Combined Farm School, Nyiko Primary School and Thembisa West Secondary School.

With this, the team aims to help learners feel comfortable receiving education as we approach winter.

Zandre de Witt and Khabonina Mnguni with their teams, donated jerseys to three schools.

Khabonina Mnguni, the co-founder and CEO of ZS Uniforms, said he hoped with this project of giving back to the community, they could ensure learners stay in class.

“We understand households are not the same.

“Our goal is to donate about 570 jerseys to 12 different schools in Thembisa.”

Fifty learners from each school received jerseys as part of the most recent donation.

“We are blessed to have Sandvik head the call and chose to sponsor the initiative because we want to bring about change and joy to the learners and families.”

“The smiles from the learners proved what we are doing is right.

“For us to dress the leaders of tomorrow means everything. It gives us motivation to keep up the good work.

“I was born and raised in this township. It means a lot to help other youngsters in the community,” added Mnguni.

Zandre de Witt, the Sandvik SA CSI chairperson, said his company strives to impact communities.

“We try to uplift communities and ensure that what we do is in line with our policy.

“We have seen children with no jerseys and others wearing torn uniforms. These are very challenging circumstances for any learner.

“We took this initiative with Khabonina to ensure we give back to communities.

“This is about the community and making sure that learners are in the pipeline for success.”
