Kempton Park refuse removal backlog is “being attended to”

Kempton Park waste removal scheduled for Thursday (August 8) and Friday (August 9) will only take place on Saturday and Sunday.

Officials from the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) have said that contractors are working around the clock to address the waste removal backlog in Kempton Park and Thembisa.

“Due to a number of areas that still need to be attended to, waste removal services will continue throughout the weekend,” said CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

He said that work will continue to ensure that all areas are serviced by the beginning of next week when the normal schedule kicks in.

“Customers that are serviced on Thursdays and Fridays, as per the waste calendar, are requested not to take out their waste bins and bags out as normal because those areas will only be attended to on Saturday and Sunday due to the current situation,” said Dlamini.

“The city apologises for the inconvenience this has caused and appeals for patience as the situation is being addressed.

“Customers are encouraged to continuously pay for their municipal rates and taxes to allow the city to deliver uninterrupted services,” said Dlamini.
