Birchleigh residents in the dark following cable theft, vandalism

Technicians are working to restore power to all affected streets in Birchliegh by 19:00.

The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed that technicians are attending to a power outage caused by cable theft and vandalism in Birchleigh.

Affected streets include the following Essenwood Avenue, Koedoe Avenue, Kokerboom Cresent, Baobab Avenue, Kamferhout Avenue, Seder Avenue, Leslie Street, John Street, Helm Street, Geelhout, Mimosa, Kolans, Cuyler, Cloete, Monkor and surroundings.

“Estimated restoration time is 19:00 however, technicians will work towards restoring power supply sooner,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

Residents are advised to treat electrical networks as live at all times while work is ongoing.
