Melville Koppies suitable for all

“Whether you want to walk alone or in a group, hike with your young children, learn more about the Koppies, relax in nature, share your poetry, or join an 8km group hike, all these things are possible at Melville Koppies,” said Jenny Grice, a Melville Koppies volunteer.

“We will give you a map at the gate and you can go wherever your feet take you.”

Self-guided options include a 5km trail, a 3km heritage trail, and a treasure hunt designed for curious young minds.

It is safe to walk alone at Melville Koppies.

For a more in-depth experience, guided tours can be booked at 079 532 0083, offering insights into the Koppies’ rich history, geology and more.

Special activities include poetry sessions on the second Sunday of each month and a guided 8km group hike on the last Sunday of the month.

Melville Koppies is open every Sunday from 08:00 to 11:30.

Entry fees are R90 for adults and R50 for those under 18. Guided tours cost R100 for adults and R50 for participants under 18.

Security is provided. Safe parking is available opposite the entrance at Marks Park Sports Club, located on Judith Road in Emmarentia.

All income goes towards the conservation of the Koppies.
