City creates mini-dump sites for residents
The city urges residents to use the mini-dump sites to curb illegal dumping.
The city has set up over 30 mini-dumpsites where residents can responsibly dispose of recyclable waste like garden waste to combat the rise of illegal dumping spots.
This initiative helps prevent mixing recyclables with domestic waste at landfill sites, which could otherwise cause the release of harmful methane gas.
Only domestic waste put in the standard 240l wheelie bins will be collected by refuse collection vehicles according to the refuse removal calendar.

The CoE urges residents without a 240l wheelie bin to visit their nearest waste management depot for assistance.
The city’s Department of Waste Management Services has strategically located these mini-dumpsites in and around residential areas to ensure accessibility at no additional cost to residents.
The CoE also urges residents to compost their garden waste, which they can reuse as fertiliser for their gardens.
The mini-dumpsites are open seven days a week, including public holidays, except Christmas Day.
Their operating hours vary by season for safety reasons because of reduced visibility during winter evenings.
The hours:
• Winter (April to September): 07:00 – 18:00 daily.
• Summer (October to March): 07:00 – 19:00 daily.
