Township Entrepreneurs Alliance announces township award finalists

The awards celebrate township businesses and entrepreneurial excellence.

The Township Entrepreneurs Alliance (TEA) recently announced the highly anticipated Township Economy Awards 2024 finalist.

This event in Kopanong Section, Thembisa, awarded innovation, resilience and excellence in SA’s township businesses.

Hosted by TEA, the awards honoured entrepreneurs who significantly contributed to economic growth and created opportunities across diverse sectors.

The finalists, representing 14 categories, were selected for their exceptional contributions to the township economy:

Agricultural excellence award: Agrishelves Group, TC Woman in Action Farming and Green Capital Holdings were recognised for contributions to the agricultural sector.

Construction champion award: West Mountain, Protilagor Projects, Rising Sun Carpentry, and Hardware Services stood out for achievements in construction.

Creative, arts and culture award: Sir Alba Tutoring and Arts Academy, Sivise Fishtank Holdings and The Arts Company Soweto showed exceptional creativity and cultural impact.

Entrepreneur with disability award: McClimb Logistics and Trading, Definitive Brand Culture and SPP Enterprise Atchaar were celebrated for overcoming barriers and excelling in their fields.

Food and beverage innovator award: Moja Chicken, Nosso-Sunflower Oil and Tobs Wraps were awarded for culinary innovation and excellence.

Green economy award: Enoch and Petros Innovative Creations, Greenmovement Recycling, and Makhabisi Recycling and Trading CC made significant strides in sustainability and environmental consciousness.

Health and wellness award: Lifestyle Pinnacle, Angela Molele Podiatrist and The Blend Wellness were recognised for contributions to health and wellness.

Manufacturing excellence award: Boldpearl, Borotho Bakery Enterprise and Koolkru were acknowledged for achievements in manufacturing.

Professional services award: Gabs and Maps Multi-Purpose, Sjoti Investment and Young Barber Shop were recognised for outstanding professional services.

Retail excellence award: Andura, Ditebogo Gifts and Events and Rani Ink were celebrated for excellence in the retail sector.

Service excellence award: Ayotic Concepts, Sopema Financial Services and AMA X-Rays displayed exceptional service delivery.

Social and community impact award: Siyoyisile Indlala Community Farm and Projects, Phenomenal BHM Training Centre and Genius Angels Youth Centre significantly impacted their communities.

Technology and innovation award: Kaymores Marketing Agency, Smart Link Wireless and Njinjicom were recognised for technological advancements and innovative solutions.

Transport and logistics award: Chilltee Shuttles, KasiD Township Delivery Service and Delivery Ka Speedy were acknowledged for contributions to the transport and logistics sectors.

Bulelani Balabala, the founder of TEA, emphasised the significance of these awards in highlighting the role of township entrepreneurs.

“These awards shine a light on the ingenuity and resilience of township entrepreneurs making significant contributions across SA. Their work drives economic growth and fosters community upliftment, creating sustainable livelihoods in the townships,” said Balabala.
