They encountered a woman matching the given description on RTJ Namane Street, introduced themselves and explained the reason for their visit.
After asking permission to search her, which the visibly nervous woman granted, the officers found 149 pieces of a substance wrapped in silver foil, suspected to be cocaine rocks, with an estimated street value of R3 725. They also recovered R720 in cash.
They immediately handcuffed her and took her to the Thembisa SAPS, booking the confiscated drugs and cash at the same police station.
The woman faces charges of dealing in illicit substances and will soon appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court.
The EMPD reiterated its commitment to cracking down on drug syndicates and maintaining a strong presence on the ground to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
