Thembisa Mall gives back to young learners
"Our donation aims to restore the dignity of learners, as we know that children often tease each other over such matters."
Thembisa Mall has embarked on a journey to give back to the community that relies on it for goods and essentials.
As one of the largest malls in the area, Thembisa Mall visited Kanana Primary School, where they collaborated with school representatives to identify children in need and donated school shoes and bags to help them throughout the year.
Parents often face financial difficulties that hinder their ability to provide for their children, affecting their success and concentration.

Recognising this, Thembisa Mall saw the need to extend a helping hand by donating what they could to ensure children stay in school and boost their confidence, allowing them to continue learning without feeling disadvantaged.
Thembisa Mall marketing manager Mfunekwa Sithole emphasised that the initiative was not meant to humiliate parents but rather to show support.
“One crucial aspect is understanding the struggles parents face in ensuring their children receive an education and are properly dressed for school.
“Our donation aims to restore the dignity of learners, as we know that children often tease each other over such matters.
“Our goal is to bridge that gap so that every child can learn freely and look forward to attending school each day.”
SGB chairperson Winners Maluleke expressed appreciation for the initiative, stating that it came at the perfect time.
“As the SGB, we see this as a personal and meaningful gesture.

“The commitment shown by both the school and Thembisa Mall demonstrates that we can establish a strong working relationship going forward.
“We are truly grateful for what the mall has done for our learners, and we believe this gesture will have a lasting impact.”
The event was a great success, with every learner delighted to receive their handouts from their local mall.
It highlighted that giving back knows no boundaries and that no child should be left behind.
