Police units bust suspects and recover vehicles and firearms
Rapid Response Services cleans the streets of Gauteng.
Rapid Response Services which included Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 109 suspects, and recovered 48 motor vehicles and six firearms between February 14 and February 20.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng and this led to 39 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, assault on a police officer, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, possession of car burglary implements, shoplifting, theft, intimidation, attempted kidnapping, common robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of precious metals, illegal immigrants, rape, murder and theft out of a motor vehicle.

A total of 48 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with 11 arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Six unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying 10 arrests.
In further policing, 49 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation for these cases is still ongoing and suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
