Kempton Park CPF holds business forum meeting

Members of the community were invited for a feedback and discussion of the issues around local businesses.

The Kempton Park community, along with the Kempton Park CPF, ward councillors, and SAPS, gathered at Maranatha Christian School on February 18 to discuss issues affecting local businesses.

According to Kempton Park CPF Exco public relations officer and CPF Sector 2 secretary, Izelle van den Berg, key topics covered in the meeting included a review of crime statistics, incidents impacting businesses, stakeholder engagement, and feedback from the ward councillor.

“Colonel Mashalane from SAPS presented crime statistics for January 1 to January 31, 2025, to identify crime trends and areas requiring attention.

“Specific incidents affecting businesses were reviewed, and Alderman Jaco Terblanche provided feedback on business-related matters within the ward.

“Representatives from SAPS, private security companies, and ward councillors were invited to discuss collaborative efforts,” Van den Berg said.

The Kempton Park CPF is a collaborative initiative that unites residents, businesses, and SAPS to enhance community safety and address crime-related challenges.

Acting as a bridge between the community and law enforcement, the CPF facilitates communication and joint efforts to create a safer environment.

Van den Berg further explained that the purpose of the Kempton Park CPF Sector 2 Business Forum is to engage the business community in crime prevention efforts.

The forum’s primary objectives include working with local businesses to identify and address crime hotspots and ensuring the safety of commercial areas.

Another key objective is information sharing, providing businesses with a platform to report recent incidents, suspicious activities, and effective security measures.

“The CPF Sector 2 Business Forum plays a vital role in fostering a secure and thriving business environment in Kempton Park.

“By encouraging active participation and collaboration, the forum helps build trust between the business community and law enforcement,” Van den Berg said.

The forum also enhances crime responsiveness by ensuring quicker reactions through coordinated efforts.

Additionally, it empowers businesses by equipping them with the tools and knowledge to implement effective security measures.
