EMPD impounds unroadworthy minibus taxis in Kempton Park

Officers conducted a sting operation with a stern focus on compliance of minibus taxis throughout the City of Ekurhuleni.

The EMPD Taxi Task Team Officers in conjunction with Gauteng Traffic and SAPS impounded seven minibus taxis for failing to meet the requirements of the National Road Traffic Act 93/1996 in Kempton Park on February 21.

Officers conducted a sting operation with a stern focus on compliance of minibus taxis throughout the City of Ekurhuleni.

Seven minibus taxis operating for reward and public transport were impounded on Zuurfontein Road.

The EMPD appeals to all operators and taxi owners to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy while operating as public transport and scholar transport in the City of Ekurhuleni.

The operation will be carried out throughout the City of Ekurhuleni to address compliance and to ensure the safety of commuters and school children making use of public transport as well as scholar transport.
