DENISE HATTINGH: Another postponement in case

Hattingh’s defence lawyer told the court he has experienced difficulties consulting with his client and as a result the matter was postponed to May 21.

The murder case against former Kempton Park hairdresser Denise Hattingh resumed in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning, April 17.

Hattingh’s defence lawyer, Obed Lewete, told the court he has experienced difficulties consulting with his client.

He explained that a person had arrived at his office with further information, and he required additional time to verify the details and consult with Hattingh as well as another complainant before the matter could proceed.

As a result, the case was postponed to May 21.

Lewete also confirmed that the defence does not require assessors in the matter and noted that Hattingh was unwell. During Hattingh’s March 4 court appearance, the defence submitted representations requesting that she be charged under the minimum sentence of 15 years rather than life imprisonment, as sought by the State. These representations were made to the DPP, and both the defence and prosecution are still awaiting a decision. #kemptonexpress #kemptonpark #localnews #kempton #Crime #Police #Arrest #crimetok #incourt #court #Murder #DeniseHattingh #TiktokNews ♬ original sound – KemptonExpress
