Four suspects caught by local flying squad

In one of the cases the complainant led them to a house in Zone 5 where the 25-year-old identified suspect was arrested.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested four suspects between April 1 and April 6.

On April 1 at around 17:00, members assisted detectives in Zonkezizwe to trace a suspect wanted for a case of pointing of a firearm and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

The complainant led them to a house in Zone 5 where the 25-year-old identified suspect was arrested.

According to spokesperson Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, on April 2 at around 09:00, an off-duty policeman was approached by Community Policing Forum (CPF) members to assist in tracing known suspects in Springs who had committed a car breaking in Athlone Street, Strubenvale.

The first suspect was traced to Jurgens Street where she was found in possession of the complainant’s handbag, ID and driver’s license.

The 26-year-old was immediately arrested and then led the member back to Atlone Street where the second 26-year-old suspect was arrested.

Members patrolling N12 direction Witbank on April 6 at around 16:00 stopped at a crash just before Kraft Road.

While on scene, an argument between the parties led to one of them assaulting the other party in the presence of members.

The 21-year-old suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Bedfordview SAPS.

Investigations are still ongoing. The suspects will appear in the local magistrate’s courts facing charges of pointing a firearm at someone, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, car burglary, theft and common assault.
