Benoni High coach, Zelni Mulder, acknowledged that her team did not execute their game plan as rehearsed, which contributed to their loss.
“It wasn’t our best game, and it’s been a tough day. Norkem Park played a better game, and credit goes to them.
“My girls just didn’t perform as they did at practice. Our passing was off, and they didn’t translate what we worked on into the game,” said Mulder.
Norkem Park capitalised on Benoni’s missteps early, securing eight unanswered goals in the first quarter.

Although Benoni managed to net two goals before halftime, they still trailed 14-2.

“This tournament is a great pre-season test for us ahead of the league. I’m hoping for more goal accuracy going forward, but I’m proud of what I’m seeing so far,” she said.
By the third quarter, Norkem Park had firm control of the game, widening the gap to 21-2. Benoni battled to gain momentum, with missed passes and a shaky defence costing them crucial opportunities.
Wing attack Queen Nomvete of Norkem Park shared that despite some tense moments, the team stayed focused and outplayed their opponents.

“The game was a bit tense, but we pushed through. Our defence worked hard to regain possession and feed the shooters. Benoni tried to close the channels and put pressure on us, but we broke through,” said Nomvete.
In the final quarter, Benoni fought to stay in the game and scored one more goal, but Norkem Park continued their dominance and sealed a convincing 37-3 win.
