Norkem Park residents donate blood

SANBS visited the market and offered people an opportunity to donate blood.

Kempton Express visited the Golden Classics Senior Citizens market at Norkem Park on May 3 where South African National Blood Service was in attendance.

Neo Ramphele: What really encouraged me to donate blood today was to actually find out my blood type. The experience was not bad. I wish the person who will benefit from this will live a healthy life and I would like to donate blood again someday.

This visit gave residents an opportunity to make a difference and donate blood to those who are in need. Here’s why residents chose to donate blood on the day:

Gerhard Havenga: My wife encouraged me to donate blood and I feel good and glad that I donated blood because I know that I get a chance to help someone out there. It was good in the beginning but bad at the end with the dizziness but I would like to keep on donating blood. I hope for the person who will be benefiting from this to have a good life.
Kayla Schwartz: I love helping people. That is way I donate blood as often as I can and I also love the gifts. I have donated blood before and the experience is painful but I love helping people so I have endured. I hope whoever I help with live a healthy and long life.
Boitumelo Tlhapane: I have donated blood before and I think more than anything, donating blood for me it’s the feeling that someone someday will need it. When I wanted to donate blood for the first time it was just for the fun of it but I couldn’t as I was underweight but a few years after that, I was in the hospital and I needed blood so that experience made it even more important for me to want to do it.
