Suspect arrested for fraudulent documents in Essellen Park

A multidisciplinary law enforcement operation led to the arrest of a man in Essellen Park, Thembisa, for allegedly manufacturing fraudulent identity documents.

The Gauteng Traffic Police High Priority Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Gauteng Traffic Police Specialised Law Enforcement Unit (SLEU), SAPS Intelligence, EMPD Northern region and Gauteng Traffic Wardens (East and Central), carried out the sting operation.

Acting on intelligence, officers swooped in on a residence in Essellen Park. Upon searching the property, officers uncovered a haul of suspected fraudulent items.

These included multiple green barcoded South African identity documents, foreign national identity documents, several South African driver’s licences, a variety of bank cards and Sassa social grant cards.

When questioned about the origin of the documents and cards, the individual at the residence could not provide a valid explanation.

The officers arrested the man for possessing suspected stolen goods and may face further charges as investigations continue.
