Local karate star strikes gold at regional championships
Megane Potgieter dazzled at the regional karate championships with a triple gold win — now she’s gearing up to take on the nation this May.
Megane Potgieter from New World Shotokan Karate Dojo – Kempton Park recently delivered an outstanding performance at the New World Shotokan Karate regional championships held in White River, Mpumalanga.
Megane competed in both the kata and kumite divisions, winning an impressive three gold medals.

According to her instructor, sensei Janien Potgieter, Megane had set a personal goal to win two gold medals on the day, but she exceeded expectations.
“I am proud of Megane. She always puts in effort during her training,” said Janien.
Megane is now focused on preparing for the national championships, set to take place in May.
