Friends of the Kempton Park Libraries supports reading and creativity

Members enjoy early book access and help shape the library’s collection. Join today to support your local library and connect with like-minded crafters.

The Friends of the Kempton Park Libraries make a meaningful contribution to the community through annual individual membership fees, which are used to purchase books requested by the public.

In return, members enjoy several privileges, including early access to newly acquired books.

But their involvement doesn’t end there. The Friends also run a variety of craft and hobby groups that meet regularly, enjoy working together, and actively contribute towards the book wish list.

These include Card Making (with handmade cards available for sale at Kempton Park libraries), General Handcraft, and a Book Club.

One such group welcoming new members is the Scrapbooking Club, where participants creatively preserve their memories through photo albums. In 2024, this group generously donated R1 415 towards new books for the libraries.

To join the Scrapbooking Club, contact Ellen Harmse at eharmse@mweb.co.za or 072 594 9050.

For more information about the Friends or any of the hobby groups, ask at the counter of your local library or contact the chairperson, Jeanette Gunningham, on 082 773 7972 or gunston@mweb.co.za
