50-HOUR Rand Water shutdown to impact Kempton Park taps

Residents should brace for an extended period of low pressure or no water because full restoration may take up to eight days.

Residents are urged to prepare for a planned water supply interruption in Kempton Park as Rand Water undertakes maintenance that will affect multiple areas from Tuesday, July 15 at 05:00 until Friday, July 18 at 07:00.

The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed that the maintenance work will impact Kempton Park and surrounding areas including Edenvale, Bedfordview, Germiston and Thembisa.

However, Kempton Park residents should brace for an extended period of low pressure or no water, as full restoration may take up to eight days after the maintenance is completed, with high-lying areas and those dependent on pumping systems recovering last.

Areas in Kempton Park expected to be affected include the Kempton Park CBD, Glen Marais, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Bredell, Rhodesfield, Chloorkop, Birch Acres, Birchleigh North, Edleen, Isando, Croydon, Cresslawn, Esther Park, Kempton Park West, Van Riebeeck Park, Terenure, Norkem Park and Spartan.

The city has advised residents to store water in advance and use it sparingly during this period to minimise inconvenience.

Water tankers will be deployed to areas experiencing supply interruptions. Details on tanker points and schedules will be communicated on the City of Ekurhuleni’s digital platforms closer to the time.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on official updates and to report any unrelated water leaks to the municipal call centre to help reduce unnecessary water losses during this period.
