MPHO MAFOLE: Family, friends and colleagues say final goodbye

Forensic auditor Mpho Mafole was gunned down in Kempton Park on June 30. Today he was remembered as a devoted father, son and fiancé.

Employees from the City of Ekurhuleni, along with family, friends, colleagues and the community, gathered at the Kempton Park Community Hall this morning, July 6, to honour and say their final goodbyes to Mpho Mafole, who was gunned down in Kempton Park on June 30.

Mafole, remembered as a devoted son, father, fiancé and dedicated City of Ekurhuleni employee, was mourned with heartfelt messages and condolences shared during the service.

Friends and colleagues comforted the grieving family, reflecting on Mafole’s commitment to his work and the positive impact he had on those around him.

Following the service, Mafole’s loved ones accompanied him to his final resting place at Mooifontein Cemetery.

Mafole was the group divisional head of corporate and group forensic audits at the City of Ekurhuleni.

The City of Ekurhuleni previously confirmed that Mafole was gunned down but the motive behind the shooting remains unknown and the matter is under active investigation by the SAPS.

The city has pledged its full cooperation with law enforcement during the investigation and extended its condolences to Molefe’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.

The fatal incident took place around 19:20 on June 30 on the R23 near the M57 (Pretoria Road) in Esselen Park, Kempton Park.

Emergency responders and members of the Share it Live network worked together to secure the scene and support the family who arrived in distress.
