Young author launches literacy campaign to inspire SA’s youth
At just 15 years old, Amara Ojiaku is proving that no dream is too big and no age too small to make a lasting impact.
At just 15 years old, Amara Ojiaku is proving that no dream is too big and no age too small to make a lasting impact.
With determination, creativity, and a heart for service, this young author has launched a literacy campaign aimed at inspiring South Africa’s youth to read, dream, and believe in their potential.
Amara recently donated 100 copies of her self-written and self-published book, a project she began at the age of 12, to Tshepang Care Centre in Thembisa.

This donation marked the official launch of her literacy campaign, which she hopes will empower children across the country.
“No dream is too big, and no age is too small to make an impact,” said Amara, who uses her storytelling to motivate her peers to find their voice and believe in their vision.
Her initiative goes beyond donating books. It is a call to action. Through contributions to care centres, libraries, and schools, Amara aims to plant seeds of hope in communities that need them most.
Tshepang Care Centre, a non-profit organisation supporting children through care and education, was one of the first beneficiaries of her growing campaign.

Sarah Sibiya, founder of Tshepang Care Centre, praised the young author’s efforts.
“We feel privileged to have a young girl like this one who can write a book. It shows that it doesn’t matter how old you are. If you have a passion to do something, you can do it,” said Sibiya.
“This is going to encourage our young children to do good. They will say, ‘If she can do it, I can do it too.’
The book touches on important values like God first, knowledge, and education. We always say that with knowledge you will reach the sky, but without it, you can be lost.

“We also appreciate the parents, because a child cannot do this alone. She needs support and motivation behind her.”

Amara’s family expressed gratitude for the journey so far.
“With hearts full of gratitude, we thank God for the gift of life and for allowing us to witness this day. We pray that He continues to bless us to encourage and empower our children to achieve their goals,” said the Ojiaku family.
“We are immensely grateful to our close-knit family members and friends who stood by Amara’s project to make it a reality. May the good God of heaven bless them and their families abundantly. Greater success ahead.”
