Power restoration underway in Kempton Park

Power restoration is currently underway in Kempton Park following the explosion at the Main Supply 66kV substation.

The City of Ekurhuleni has confirmed that electricity will be restored in carefully managed phases to prevent overloading the network and triggering further faults.

Residents are urged to switch off high-consumption appliances during this process to help minimise strain on the system until supply is stable.

An explosion at the Main Supply 66kV substation has severely impacted the entire 66kV ring network supplying Kempton Park, leaving large parts of the city without electricity.

Technical teams are on site assessing the damage, but at this stage, there is no estimated restoration time (ERT) for when power will return.
