Edleen customer drives away in new Hyundai after SPAR win

There was excitement at Edleen Kwikspar as customer Mamorwa Sekoere arrived with joy written all over her face to collect her brand-new fiery red Hyundai Grand i10 Auto Sedan on July 14.

Sekoere was the lucky winner of SPAR’s nationwide two-month competition, which ran from April 22 to June 22.

Customers stood a chance to win by purchasing participating items such as SPAR brand frozen mixed chicken portions, sunflower or granola oil, Protex hygiene soap, and others.

She was one of 50 winners across the country.

Sekoere shared that it was her first time winning a competition, and she was grateful for the blessing.

“I do have my own car, but having a second car is a wonderful thing, and it will really help me and my family. I never expected to win, so this came as a surprise.

“It is a gift from God, and I’m grateful to my daughter because on that day, she wanted noodles, and thanks to her, we got a car,” she said.

Edleen KwikSPAR had the honour of handing over the 50th and final car in the competition, marking a special moment for both the store and its customer.

Store owner Leon Kruger shared his excitement about being part of the milestone.

“It’s been quite a rough patch over the past few months. We bought the store at the end of 2023, and we’re working to get it back into its original shape.

This is the first time I’ve been part of a SPAR that gave away a car to a customer, and it’s great to be part of the community, giving back to a customer who shops here often. We’re really happy we could put a smile on our customer’s face,” Kruger said.
