Clean-up underway after truck jackknifes on R21 north

Traffic remains heavily backed up from the R24 Barbara Road off-ramp with several lane closures still in place across the R21.

Motorists travelling on the R21 north this morning are facing heavy delays after a truck carrying alcohol jackknifed and lost its load just before the Voortrekker Road on-ramp.

The EMPD Freeway Unit and members of the SAPS are on the scene to manage traffic and assist with the clean-up operation.

According to EMPD spokesperson Thabiso Makgato, traffic is heavily backed up from the R24 Barbara Road off-ramp.

“Three lanes have been affected by the incident, with only one lane currently open to traffic.”

Makgato urged motorists to exercise patience while clean-up operations continue.
