Asikhulume “Let’s Talk” dialogue: Participants share what inspired them to join

Attendees of the Asikhulume “Let’s Talk” dialogue opened up about what motivated them to participate, highlighting the importance of community conversation and engagement.

The Thambisan asked participants of the Asikhulume Let’s Talk dialog what inspired them to attend. Here’s what they had to say:

Rethabile Mweli: I got motivated to attend this event as I am one of the LGBTQIA+ community, and the message I have for the community is that they should support and treat them with the respect that they require and that they are also people like us.
Kagiso Qalinye: I got inspired to attend this event because I want to offer support to those that are in the LGBTQIA+ community and are afraid to reveal that we support them, and they are people like us. There’s nothing wrong with being gay, lesbian or bisexual.
Yanelisa Mtshika: I am motivated by the vision behind this event, that the LGBTQIA+ community are people like us and they should get fair treatment and not stereotyped. We want them to feel like they belong to the community and that there is nothing wrong.
