The 4th Annual B Lab Africa Summit opened on October 2 at Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate with a dynamic first day, setting the tone for two days of bold dialogue and collective action.
Delegates from across Africa and the globe gathered to reflect on the Summit’s central theme: Africa’s Readiness to Take Action.
The opening ceremony featured a keynote address from Dr Pali Lehohla, former Statistician-General of South Africa, who spoke under the theme “Building an Africa That Works for All.”

Dr Lehohla called on leaders to embrace African wisdom in shaping modern solutions:
“Building an Africa That Works for All calls for implementation of Morena Mohlomi’s Code, that great African (1723–1813) who counsels us to deploy new instruments of power to ensure intergenerational value,” Dr Lehohla said.

Day 1 panel discussions explored pressing topics for Africa’s sustainable future, including:
• Business of Agriculture – Achieving food security while tackling climate shocks and building resilient farming systems
• Capital for Climate – Unlocking financing for climate solutions and mobilising ESG investments at scale
• Inclusive Economies – Driving business growth that is equitable, sustainable and responsive to Africa’s demographic realities
The panels highlighted the importance of aligning Africa’s natural resources, youthful population and entrepreneurial spirit with bold strategies to address climate change and economic inequality.

On Day 2, participants were expected to continue discussions on water security, technology and data, trade and entrepreneurship, all central to shaping Africa’s leadership in global sustainability.

Lucy Muiga, CEO of B Lab Africa, urged delegates to translate dialogue into urgent action:
“The question before us is not whether Africa can rise to the challenge. The question is whether we are ready to act, together, with the speed, scale and inclusivity required to secure our future.
“The future we seek, an inclusive, resilient and regenerative Africa, is not a dream. It is a choice. And it is a choice we must make, together, now.”
The B Lab Africa Summit is the leading annual gathering on the continent for advancing sustainable business and inclusive growth.
