B Lab Africa Summit 2025 closes with powerful conversations
The fourth B Lab Africa Summit united changemakers to share ideas on sustainability, innovation and Africa’s readiness for a greener, more inclusive future.
B Lab Africa hosted its fourth annual B Lab Africa Summit at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate on October 2 and 3.
Attendees engaged in thought-provoking discussions, explored innovative solutions and strengthened collective efforts to build an Africa that works for all.
The second day focused on climate finance, environmental, social and governance investment, inclusive growth, and Africa’s readiness for action.

Attendees learnt from global experts and aligned themselves with international best practices shaping sustainable development.

Lucy Muigai, the CEO of B Lab Africa, explained the purpose of the summit, “We bring together stakeholders from academia, investors and business to explore strategies and solutions for Africa’s most pressing challenges: Climate, finance, trade, water scarcity, youth unemployment and education.”
Day two featured two panel discussions. The first, Data and Technology: Securing Sustainability Through AI, included Matone Ditlhake, the CEO of Corridor Africa Technologies, and explored how AI can support sustainable growth. Ditlhake emphasised the importance of governance alongside technology.

“AI is not a golden tool that can solve our problems alone. We still need sustainable cities, educated populations and clean governance. Only then can AI boost the economy effectively.”
The second discussion, titled Powering the Transition: Renewable Energy for a Resilient Africa, included Kgosi Diphokwane, the CEO of Chargify, and others sharing insights on harnessing renewable energy to strengthen the continent’s future.
Other highlights included a presentation by Wybrand Ganzevoort on Metapreneurial: The Transformational Mindset Empowering Purpose-Driven Leadership, focusing on the human side of sustainability and the need for transformational practices alongside compliance frameworks.

Attendees were divided into four focused sessions:
• Session E: Entrepreneurial and Youth Development: Led by Dr Chante Botha, Diphokwane and Dr Daniella Teles Amaral, exploring strategies to empower the next generation of leaders and integrate youth and SMMEs into economic development;
• Session F: Powering Africa’s Green Industrial Revolution: Led by Dr Kuzi Charamba, examining sustainable and impact-linked finance to drive Africa’s green industrial transformation;
• Session G: Making Your Message Matter – Strategic Communication for Changemakers: Led by Kirsten Kerecman, focusing on capturing attention, building trust and inspiring action;
• Session H: B Corp Certification: Led by Fabian Sukulu and Bernard Gouw from B Lab Africa, explaining the process, value and impact of B Corp certification for African businesses.

For the youth-focused delegation, project manager Mmasechaba Moagi noted the summit’s relevance to their work, “We engage with youth development and entrepreneurship, so attending the summit allowed us to network, learn and understand how rapidly the world is changing. It reinforced the need to take action and spread awareness.”

The summit also featured fireside chats, including one with Juliette Deloustel and Clementine Katz from Attitude Hotels, and a closing discussion with Martin Bunch and Olivia Muiru on why B Lab, B Corp and B Lab standards are vital today.
The summit underscored the power of collaboration, knowledge sharing and innovation in driving a sustainable, inclusive and resilient Africa.
