Kempton Park community rallies for Allen Park Annual Festival

From live entertainment to food stalls and a new Hot Dog Eating Competition, Allen Park’s Annual Festival is set to bring the community together for a day of excitement and giving back.

The Allen Park Annual Festival is set to bring a full day of fun and entertainment to Kempton Park on October 25.

Residents can look forward to a packed programme that includes jumping castles, a beer tent, live entertainment, a mechanical bull, arts and craft stalls, food stalls and more.

The event will take place at Allen Park Old Age Home, 23 Cactus Road, Allen Grove, and promises to be a highlight on the local calendar, combining community spirit with a good cause.

Festival organiser and marketing and fundraising coordinator Tarryn Shaw said preparations are well under way, with nearly 90 stalls already confirmed.

“We’ve had an incredible response from the community so far, but we still need a little help to make the day a success,” Shaw said.

Allen Park is appealing for donations of mince, Viennas, hot dog rolls, 50 hamburger buns, 30kg wors and about 60 loaves of sliced bread to support the food stalls and the new Hot Dog Eating Competition.

The team is also seeking sponsorships for several attractions:

• The mechanical bull, which costs R4 000, requires upfront payment. Tickets will be sold on the day to help recover costs.
• A petting zoo will form part of the festivities, and organisers are asking for donations of apples to feed the animals. Tickets for pony rides and vegetable packs will be sold to cover expenses.
• The jumping castles, including a waterslide, cost R1 750. A sponsor for this activity would be greatly appreciated.
• Two of the festival’s performers are being sponsored at R1 500 each, while one performer and the MC have volunteered their services.

“I’ve been in this role for only three months, and somehow I’m hoping for a miracle, but with the amazing support we’ve received so far, I’m confident it’s going to be a fantastic day,” said Shaw.
