Pomona and Bredell power restoration expected by 13:00

The estimated restoration time was initially last night but due to further multiple faults, the estimated restoration time is now revised.

The City of Ekurhuleni says technicians are still working to restore power to Pomona, Bredell, and parts of Glen Marais following days of outages that began over the weekend.

According to city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, additional faults discovered during repairs have delayed full restoration.

“The estimated restoration time was initially last night; however, due to further multiple faults, the estimated restoration time is now revised to 13:00 today,” he said.

Ward 25 Councillor Marinda Beukes confirmed she has escalated the matter to the Mayor’s office, saying residents have suffered significant losses as a result of the outage. “People have lost thousands of rands worth of food, businesses can’t operate, and our matric learners are struggling to study for exams. I’ve gone beyond my duty to assist residents and will continue to do everything I can,” said Beukes.

Meanwhile, residents have expressed mounting frustration, with some threatening to take their grievances to the City’s offices if power is not restored soon.

The City has urged all customers to treat electrical points as live while technicians continue repair work and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
