Kempton Park house fire claims elderly woman’s life
After finding the woman's body, paramedics attempted prehospital medical treatment, but she was declared dead at the scene.
An elderly woman died after a fire gutted her home in Allen Grove, Kempton Park, this morning, November 5.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS), firefighters responded swiftly after receiving a call at 06:47 about a house fire.
Early morning response to the scene was coordinated by Kempton Park’s Share It Live, which helped ensure emergency teams were alerted promptly.
Two fire crews, from Old Kempton Park and Albertina Sisulu fire stations, were dispatched to the scene.
“On arrival, firefighters found the six-roomed house engulfed in flames, with the roof already collapsed.

“Firefighters quickly began fire suppression efforts and managed to contain and extinguish the blaze.
“According to information gathered on scene, an elderly woman, who lived alone in the house, was unaccounted for,” said DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi.
A search-and-recovery operation was launched, and the woman’s lifeless body was found beneath the burnt debris.
“Paramedics attempted prehospital medical treatment, but she was declared dead at the scene.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the scene has been handed over to the SAPS.
