Residents protest over ongoing Kempton Park power outage

Residents have tried to engage with the City through every available channel, including the Mayor’s office, but without success.

Frustration among residents in parts of Bredell and Pomona has reached a boiling point, with members of the Power to Us community action group planning a protest this evening.

The group’s representative, Andre Jansen, said the decision came after residents were “sent from pillar to post” and have now gone five days without power.

“We want the City to know that we are paying citizens. We pay for services we hardly ever get,” said Jansen.

He explained that residents have tried to engage with the City of Ekurhuleni through every available channel, including the executive mayor’s office, but without success.
