Heavy rain and flooding in Gauteng as more showers move in

Conditions remain dangerous, with water accumulation, debris and poor visibility creating serious risks for motorists and pedestrians.

Gauteng residents are being warned to remain cautious as more rain is expected to spread into the northern parts of the province from this afternoon into the evening, with some areas forecast to receive a 100% chance of rainfall.

According to the latest update, the wet weather system will also affect parts of Limpopo, particularly the south-western areas south of Bela-Bela, where showers and possible thundershowers are expected later today.

Heavy downpours over the past 24 hours have already caused significant disruption across the province. Multiple reports indicate flooded roads, fallen trees, damaged power cables and widespread power outages in several areas.

Conditions remain dangerous, with water accumulation, debris and poor visibility creating serious risks for motorists and pedestrians.

Residents are strongly urged to avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary and to remain indoors where possible.
