Red Devils host content-creation session to boost careers of Tembisa dancers

With dancers attending in large numbers, the Red Devils used their influence to offer exposure, inspiration and industry guidance—while planning future workshops and a return of the popular event.

The Red Devils Tembisa continue to uplift the community using the resources and influence they have built over the years.

Recently, the group hosted a photoshoot and content-creation session for upcoming dancers. With the Red Devils boasting a significant social media following, the event provided dancers with an opportunity to elevate their profiles and gain exposure that could support their careers.

Solly Mpaga from the Red Devils said: “The idea of hosting a photoshoot and content-shooting event in our township was to empower upcoming dancers and give them opportunities to meet their mentors and role models.

“Content is important, especially for new dancers, because it helps you get the attention of any artist or company you wish to work with,” he explained.

“The event was designed to encourage dancers to stay focused on their craft and believe in the possibilities the industry offers.

“We have been doing this for decades. We have seen the world and met people who elevated us, and now we are known because of the power of social media. We hope this idea does for other dancers what it did for us.”

The Red Devils remain active in community development. In recent months, they hosted a dance competition where two dancers won trousers sponsored by Siyaba Enterisha, offered as a gesture of support and encouragement.

“Dancers are not always celebrated, and it has been difficult for upcoming dancers to access information and opportunities,” Mpaga said.

“Hosting this event was our way of giving them the chance to work towards their goals. Dancers came in large numbers because they love the Tembisa Red Devils.”

Following the success of the initiative, the group plans to host the event again and hopes to bring legends of Isipantsula dance to participate.

They also intend to run workshops leading up to the next session.

“For the remainder of the year, we will be attending our booked performances and preparing for our 2026 international shows,” Mpaga said.
