Edleen Primary celebrates top achievers at foundation and intermediate phase awards
Parents and teachers cheered as Edleen Primary School honoured learners for academic excellence, good behaviour, and perseverance during foundation and intermediate phase award ceremonies in early November.
Parents turned out to support their children as they received academic awards at Edleen Primary School, marking a successful and remarkable academic journey.
The foundation phase academic awards were held on November 4 to celebrate the hard work and dedication of learners.
The awards recognise and celebrate learners’ achievements and efforts, motivating them to continue striving for excellence and promoting a positive learning environment.
They acknowledge not only academic success but also good behaviour, perseverance, and character.
Edleen Primary School principal Tshepho Lekgoro explained the importance of the awards.
“The school is about achievement. After assessing learners through exams, tests, and other forms of evaluation, it is easy to identify the top achievers. Recognising them motivates both those who performed well and those who need to improve,” Lekgoro said.
Sarah Hodzonge, the top achiever of all the Grade Two classes, said listening to her teachers paid off.
“I love math and English, but if I had to choose, I would pick English. I enjoy reading, dancing, singing, and making friends. Being recognised as a top achiever makes me happy because I knew paying attention in class would pay off one day,” she shared.
The awards also help build a culture of respect, appreciation, and celebration of excellence within the classroom and school.
They highlight not only academic performance but also effort, perseverance, and positive behaviour.
Tshidi Masina, mother of Grade One top achiever Mpilwenhle Masina, said she expected her daughter to be recognised.
“My daughter is bubbly and mischievous, but she has always been smart. Seeing her receive this award makes me very proud. I hope she continues performing well,” Masina said.
Tsebo Timothy Moagi, another Grade One achiever, received gold in mathematics and English Home Language.
His mother, Tshegofatso Moagi, said she is proud of his progress. “In term one, he faced some challenges, but he improved in terms two and three.
He is outgoing, confident, and kind. I supported him throughout, helping him balance play and learning,” she said.
On November 6, the school held another ceremony for the intermediate phase, where the head boy and head girl for 2026 were nominated.
The head boy achieved gold in every subject and was named the top achiever of the school, while the head girl earned five gold awards.
Edleen Primary School thanked all parents for their continued support in celebrating the learners’ accomplishments.
