EMPD demolishes illegal structures in Winnie Mandela area

The EMPD First Responder Unit (FRU) and the Land Invasion Unit demolished 11 illegal structures erected on Old Mutual open space near Phumulani Mall in the Winnie Mandela area on November 15.

“Officers were patrolling hotspot areas when they noticed illegal structures at Old Mutual open space next to Phumulani Mall.

Members responded swiftly and demolished the illegal structures,” said EMPD media liaison officer Katlego Mphahlele.

The City of Ekurhuleni has urged residents of Winnie Mandela to refrain from occupying or erecting structures on vacant land that does not belong to them.
