Truck driver injured following collision with Elgin Road Bridge

According to information received the driver was following his GPS and was thrown through the windscreen when the truck struck the bridge.

Earlier this afternoon, December 10, another truck collided with the Elgin Road Bridge.

EMPD officers responded at around 12:00 and found the damaged truck under the bridge.

There was no sign of a second vehicle.

According to witnesses, the driver sustained a shoulder injury.

Information from the scene suggests the driver had been following his GPS, which directed him under the low bridge.

When the truck struck the bridge, the front lifted, causing the driver to be thrown through the windscreen.

Members of the CPF from Birchleigh also attended the scene.

The road has since been reopened.
