Kempton Park Scouts celebrate outstanding achievers

The 1st Kempton Park Scouts Group hosted its AGM on November 7, bringing together families, volunteers, and young leaders to celebrate a year of growth, learning, and outdoor adventure.

The 1st Kempton Park Scouts Group hosted its AGM on November 7, bringing together families, volunteers, and young leaders to celebrate a year of growth, learning, and outdoor adventure.

Reports from all divisions highlighted the group’s progress.

Dee Lephalala presented on the Meerkats for children aged 5 to 6 years, Adele Stanley reported on the Cubs aged 7 to 10, and Darren le Roux shared updates on the Scouts aged 11 to 18 years.

The group has grown considerably over the past year and continues to make a significant impact on the lives of children.

The treasurer also presented a transparent review of the income and expenses, giving parents peace of mind.

The evening featured the presentation of top awards to Cubs and Scouts who demonstrated teamwork, commitment, and exceptional spirit throughout the year.

Cub of the Year was jointly awarded to Sarah Stanley and Mia Chetty for their leadership, enthusiasm, and dedication.
Mia also received the Sixer of the Year award for her outstanding leadership within her pack.

Special recognition was given through the Earth Angel Award, presented to Sarah Stanley for collecting the most plastic bottle tops and bread tags, contributing to a wheelchair donation through recycling initiatives.

The Always There Bear Award, recognising attendance, was shared by Mia and Puleng Lephalala, who attended 29 out of 30 meetings, an 96.3% attendance rate.

Among the Scouts, the top honour of Scout of the Year was shared by Donne and Deacon le Roux for their consistent effort, strong values, and achievement through weekly rewards.

Additional awards celebrated the unique qualities of individual Cubs.

Anushka Grace received the Sunshine Award for brightening everyone’s day and Bophelo Dhladhla earned the Kind Heart Award for helping others and assisting Akela without being asked.

Chichi Nnoli was given the Always Smiling Award for spreading cheer, while Gerry Manoor won the Bright Spark Award for clever ideas and quick thinking.

Kamari Fikeni received the Future Sixer Award for showing leadership potential and Kosabo Mabena was recognised with the Buddy Award for being welcoming to new Cubs.

Liam Manoor earned the Bravery Badge for facing challenges with courage, while Merelda Rautenbach received the Chief Giggle Award for contagious laughter.

Mia Chetty was also celebrated with the OG Korean Fan Award for her love of K-POP and Korean culture, and Michaela Sithole received the Curious Cub Award for her enthusiasm to learn.

Phindulo Ramadiba was recognised with the Strong and Silent Award for quiet confidence, and Puleng Lephalala earned the Spirit of the Pack Award for teamwork.

Reghardt Oliver was presented with the Good Sport Award for fair play, while Sarah Stanley received the OG Scouts’ Got Talent Award for inspiring performances.

Thoriso Sefole earned the Strong Spirit Award for positivity and Zander Grace received the Take Charge Cub Award for stepping up without being asked.

Leaders extended their gratitude to parents, volunteers, and the community for their continued support, ensuring the success and growth of the Kempton Park Scouts.

With new activities and adventures on the horizon, the group looks forward to another impactful year of learning, leadership, and fun in the great outdoors.
