Gauteng police seize stolen vehicles, firearms and make 76 arrests
Flying Squad, K9 and Highway Patrol units conduct intensive operations across Gauteng, leading to arrests for serious crimes, drug offences, and recovery of stolen vehicles and firearms.
The Police Emergency Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 76 people and recovered 35 vehicles and six firearms between January 30 and February 5.
Members participated in concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, and intensive patrols, which led to 39 arrests for serious crimes, including common assault and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, pointing a firearm, intimidation, murder, tampering with essential infrastructure, driving under the influence of alcohol, malicious damage to property, theft, burglary, fraud, reckless and negligent driving and illegal immigration.

Officers recovered 35 hijacked and stolen vehicles and made two arrests for possessing these vehicles. Six firearms were recovered, accompanied by eight arrests.
There were 27 arrests for possessing and dealing in drugs. Heroin, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal meth were among the substances confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in these cases.
The suspects will appear in local magistrates’ courts across Gauteng.
